Loveys Actually CD recording

After our house concert, we launched right in to our recording of a CD that would be like no other .. We had new songs and many older songs that we realised had not been recorded yet. People would ask us after a show and we had promised them that we would get onto it! Kamal Engels from Art of Audio was our choice once more as we had found him so wonderful to work with, not only did he love working with us as well, he has this way of bringing out the best of us vocally, musically and authentically.

Because Kamal’s studio is just behind Mullumbimby we were able to pop up to record as often as we needed. Our technique for this album started with each songwriter heading up to the studio to lay down a draft track - this sets up the structure, the basic timing, and gives Kamal a template to work with.

Slowly over the next months we managed to add all of the elements such as bass lines, piano tracks, percussion, ukuleles and of course harmonies which we approached as a group. When you record your beautiful songs it is necessary to pick everything apart carefully and then put it all back together again very accurately….some songs took longer than others !!

Because we wanted this recording to be lush and wonderful and very special , we decided to invite some wonderful local musicians to add little tasty bits. If you listen carefully you will hear piano accordion, Saxophone ,keyboard, Flugel horn, ukulele, double bass and extra percussion sneaking in to our sweet songs..what a treat. We even sent our recording to Jenny’s son and a colleague of his from the Sibelius Institute in Helsinki to add deliciousness to a couple of tracks (all listed on our album).

Because our show is called Loveys Actually, our CD is also called this, there are 15 original songs on it for your enjoyment and our immense pride . We are so happy with the overall quality of this album and we know that our audiences will love to see the beautiful presentation of it. We have included lyrics this time so that you can read for yourself what we sing about. We have also sprinkled photos of us in action, it will be a great souvenir of our show and should really sit in the trophy room for all to see!!
